When we look at how total market values of companies are created today, we see that the largest share belongs to intangible assets. Talents that are aware of the opportunities and threats of   Information Systems of institutions in order to get strategic decisions and apply them in a continuously changing world and uncertainty named as VUCA (Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity, Ambiguity). No corporations can get a competitive advantage without information systems and yes, Information Systems are too critical not to be left to computer experts anymore Each manager can create a difference as they understand information and each IT specialist can go further as they know how to contribute to reach their strategic objectives. Information Management is the most important competition element in all areas from customer management to data analysis, making strategic predictions to source optimization and value chain management.

 

Towards the end of Twentieth century, as Information Systems gained relatively importance, MIS (Management Information Systems) started to develop as an independent discipline. In today's world, it has turned to be an area that has high effect on other functions, this is why the motto of BILGI MIS program is "Management with Information Systems". Graduates of this program will gain competence in "Management with Informations Systems" beyond the Information Systems Management. Their technical and administrative skills will include strategic thinking, strategic implementation and leadership areas. 

 

In scope of this program, business management and information technologies are considered in an interdisciplinary understanding. In this context, subjects like Work Analytics and Big Data, Data Sources Management, System Analysis and Design, Design Oriented Thinking are blended with business subjects such as Business Management, Entrepreneurship, Enterprise Resource Planing, B2B Marketing.

Prof. Dr. Şule Işınsu Özmen

She completed her secondary and high school education in TED Ankara College in 1977. Graduated from Business department of the Middle East Technology University in 1981. Starting her academic career as a research assistant in the business department of METU, she continued her education in English Business Department of Marmara University in 1985. Since July 2009, she has been giving lectures on "E-Trade", "New Economy & E-Business" and "Research Methods" and "Business Statistics" in MBA, e-MBA Turkish and e-MBA English remote education programs of Istanbul Bilgi University. In 2003 and 2006, her book titled "Ağ Ekonomisinde Yeni Ticaret Yolu E-Ticaret" was published for 1st and 2nd time and made its 3rd print in 2009. The 4th and updated print of the book was published in February 2012. In 2003, she worked as a Consultant in E-Trade Bridge Program of Business Management Development Department of International Trade Center (ITC/EMDS), United Nations World Trade Organization (UNCTAS/WTO) and written the report "e-Preparedness of Turkey". She organizes conferences and seminars in Turkey in order for SME's to understand and use Information Technologies and E-trade implementations. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Selcen Öztürkcan

Prof. Dr. Selcen Öztürkcan continues her academic career in the Institute of Social Sciences of Istanbul Bilgi University. After graduating from Tarsus American High School in 1995, she was chosen as honored student during her education on Engineering in Middle East Technical University in 1999 and completed her master's degree on Business in Bilkent University by getting scholarship in 2001. As a scholar she went to University of South Florida in 2002-2003 and later on continued her doctoral studies in the Faculty of Management in Istanbul Technical University in 2003-2007. Her doctoral studies completed in 2007 were awarded with "PhD Honorary Awards" by Türk Eğitim Vakfı (TEV).

Today, she still serves in education as well as a consultant in corporations like Goldman Sachs's 10.000 Women, Mazda, Vestel, IngBank and AÇEV. She hosted Post-Doc studies of Sabancı University in 2006-2008, Özyeğin University in 2008-2010, and K.U. Leuven Ötürükcan in 2010.

Her academic researches are chosen among "All Time Favorite" list of SSRN (Social Science Research Network). Dr. Öztürkcan's studies are published as part and case analysis in the books by publishing houses like Cengage, Edward Elgar, Istanbul Chamber of Commerce and McGraw-Hill 


Dr. Taşkın Dirsehan

Taşkın Dirsehan was born in Istanbul. After graduating from Italian Secondary School and then Saint-Joseph French High School, he started to study in IIBF Business Department of Galatasaray University in 2005.  In scope of Erasmus exchange program, he had one semester in Université Montpellier-1 in 2007. Graduating in 2009, he continued his studies in Production Management and Marketing Master's Degree Program in English in Marmara University.

In 2011, he started to work as a research assistant in English Business Department in the same university. He finished his master's degree with the highest rank 4.00/4.00 by completing his thesis on "Romantic Movement in Marketing: The Effects of Customer Experiences on Post Experience Dimensions from the Museum Perspective" and started his doctoral studies in the Marketing Science Department of Istanbul University. In 2015, he completed his doctoral study with the rank 3.55/4.00 and the theses titles "Tüketici Algılama Sürecinde Marka Kavram Haritaları ve Marka Ederi ölçümü”.

Today, he continues his career as lecturer in English Business Department Production Management and Marketing of Marmara University and is also in the committee of Erasmus.

He contributed to the books written on the subjects of experiential marketing, data mining in marketing, marketing and management in the 21st century, emerging markets. Additionally, he has published articles on experiential marketing in museums, online consumer experiences, e-loyalty towards opportunity sites and marketing training in various scientific magazines including "Boğaziçi Journal Review of Social, Economic and Administrative Studies". and he has also presented his studies in many national and international congresses.

 

Kerem Alper

Experienced entrepreneur on the subjects of system design, social innovation, design idea and entrepreneurship financing.

After graduating from Istanbul Erkek Lisesi, he did a double major in Math and Economy in Wesleyan University. He worked on renewable energy technologies and investment finance in Lehman Brothers of New Work, and Cadent Energy Partners.

After completing his double master's degree on Business (MBA) and Sustainable Design (MS) in Stanford University, he gave lectures in Stanford Hasso Plattner Institute of Design (d.school)

Following his establishment of an agricultural software Lightspeed Venture Partners Fellowship, he worked in Nest Labs (www.nest.com) on product development. Just after this experience, he returned to Istanbul in 2014 in order to establish ATÖLYE Labs
