Founded in 1996, Istanbul Bilgi University (BİLGİ) has the motto “Learning not for school but for life” (Non scholae sed vitae discimus). With almost 1,000 academics, BİLGİ currently has more than 22,000 students and 24,000 alumni. As an English medium institution, BİLGİ offers more than 150 programs in its faculties of architecture, arts and sciences, communication, law, economics and administrative sciences, and engineering in addition to its vocational and professional schools, and institutes.
In 2006, BİLGİ became the first and only member in Turkey to join Laureate International Universities, one of the world’s largest university networks. BİLGİ is one of the most prestigious universities within this international network, which has more than 1 million students in 28 countries.
BİLGİ offers more than 550 exchange agreements in Europe as an active participant in the Erasmus exchange network. BİLGİ is also a full member of European University Association (EUA), International Association of Universities (IAU), EUA-CDE (EUA-Council for Doctoral Education) and OECD/Programme on Institutional Management in Higher Education (IMHE).
With three campuses in the city centres (santralistanbul, Dolapdere and Kustepe), BİLGİ hosts more than 1,000 events each year as not only an academically, but also a socially and culturally excelling institution.
In 2015, Istanbul Bilgi University succeeded in getting a rank within the first 140 universities of QS Emerging Europe and Central Asia University Ranking.
